zenopede (1999)

This UK-based dark experimental artist gives us a taste of six bleak ceremonial grooves. Zenopede relays a heavy emphasis on bass synth, raw ritualistic yet sometimes funky beats, and light synth melodies. CMI & Ant-Zen artist influences are significantly apparent throughout the entire album.

The cd starts out on a more beat-heavy driven side and slowly cools down by the time we enter the fourth track. Imagine living in a castle for a few years on a simple keyboard, some recording equipment, clothing and food, creating music around your surroundings. This could be the explanation to this release. It is definitely ones that grows on you the more you listen, but there is one minor problem: the mastering and mixing could have been a little better. Sounds sometimes get lost and muffled, but not entirely to hurt it as a whole. A very promising new act, and one to watch out for.
