compiling ten exclusive tracks from ten exclusive artists strictly from belgium, benjamin boudin of klang kontrol gives us a taste of the strongest belgium underground talents. this very limited compilation represents some of the best each artist has to offer.
we open this release with oscillating bass drones that are accompanied by distant machinery waves, whales cries, and various combustible textures on "lost horizon" by dive. ah cama-sotz proceeds with a very seductively dark and majestic track entitled "demon seed (part 2)." ritualistic industrial driven rhythms, transparent toxic vocals, and relentless phased programming textures that entice the psyche. the first version of "demon seed" can be found on tronik's "depth of beyond" compilation. the building electro driven textures and rhythms of "cycle of misinformation (denmark version)" from frames a second rapidly increases with hypnotic proportion. na-dha, a side project of the legendary hybryds pushes forth new directions in cyber-punk idealism with ascending mythical militant EBM rhythms and catchy video game-esq melodies on "technoid#7." "total jesus 2000" a brilliant very assaulting track from mr. stevens of hypnoskull pummels your skull with fierce driving power rhythms that build with relentless nature as they fade and emerge throughout. absolutely one of my favorite tracks from this artist that never loses his intensity.
taktsequenz gives us a very erratic and unmethodical distorted attacks and heavy percussive assaults with a track entitled "high density linear converter." lethal dose 50 takes us in a hypnotic driven textures that gradually ascend to thick warm alien atmospheres that swirl about on "stay alert." brainquake takes us on a journey of guitar melodics and building horns chords that are accompanied by distant alien voices on "winter comes to patagonia and other planets (alteria ambiente)." no provides us with an untitled track that reminds me reflects experimental pure sound devices that actually remind me somewhat of foton records work. and alfa tau bau close with "eine schöne frau" that works with very sluggish horn movements that move along a plane of subtle textures.
all in all, we get a variety of very unique and diverse directions from these artists and a much better overall understanding of some of the best belgium has to offer. if you are able to still find one of these compilations, it is well worth the hunt.
