negative eight vs. ntt
With more and more noise music becoming structured and actually rhythmic, it's hard to find something that actually qualifies as "experimental." Negative Eight seems to be fond of harsh white noise, and yet the vocal style at time remind me of synth-pop, a surprising mixture. They also mix in some acoustic elements, and some tracks almost carry a vague tribal quality. Definitely not for the listeners that have become assimilated with ant-zen's vision of rhythm and noise, but for those looking for music that still has an experimental feel.
Navicon Torture Technologies is more "conventional" noise (of the non-rhythmic sort) with harsher, distorted vocals. It contains enough variation to keep one's interest, but never really builds up to intensity. It's almost like you're continuously waiting for something to happen.
The cd as a whole contains a lot of variety and interesting elements, and anyone into experimental noise that is sometimes harsh and sometimes just strange should get it.
