hmm… I think this is the first actual Russian industrial/ebm act I've technically reviewed. And to say the least, I was quite impressed! These ebm terrorists explore old school industrial elements and combine some of the best new minimal ebm tactics to create a uniquely fresh new industrial sound.
The closest comparisons and/or influences I can make would be that of kmfdm, re/act and project pitchfork. Utilizing much drum'n'bass textures, breakbeats spliced with minimal funky synthetics, bass moogs, and resonance loops. Vocals seem to be more synth-pop-esq and clean, which is not my flavor usually, but it works quite well for this particular style of ebm. Infact, sometimes the vocals gets a little angsty. Some tracks use minimal guitar as well, which implies a kmfdm feel, but does not distract enough to consider this band being an aggro-industrial band.
This album is balanced nicely for the club as well, especially tracks such as "moscow colossus", "metro", and the remix of "phantom"! Completely Russian vocals as well, which is actually a nice touch considering how many bands think they have to sing in english to be more universal. I don't feel this is necessary if the song is composed the way it thought out to be, it's should be performed that way.
Very impressive work, I would like to hear more. Very cool cd graphics as well; one to look into, if you can find it.
