the teashop madman vs. odal
This is a split release between Pierre-Marc Tremblay of Canada and Netherlands noise artist Peter Zincken, also known as odal. The release comes packaged in a plastic baggy with various interesting photos of earlier times, model fragments and a low-budget mini-poster. Using very limited lo-tec equipment both of these artists give us a look into experimental manipulations of minimal noise.
On side a Tremblay pulls out a boring chaotic field of frequencies, delays, transparent reverberations, and dull modulated bass undertones that seem to be too directionless for my tastes along with poor production aspects. On side B, Odal proves to be much more interesting with ever-undying sporadic modulations, freaky sound devices, strange musical undertones that move into various directions overloading your mind at times. I would hate to see a video done based on odal’s material, it just might be too much for one to handle! Very crazy shit!
