This D.A.M. CD marks the debut of American Ross Beale with 8 tracks of "instrumental synthpop" (as the music is usually labeled). Each track is in an accessible techno style & remains compact & catchy & shows good awareness of hooks & melodic progression throughout. After the relatively sparse but quite infectious opener "Dark Horizon" the following "Revelation" really sets things alight with an instantly attractive & enjoyable tune running atop the lively techno-flavored rhythms. What this music doesn't bother with is the voice samples that usually crop up in this style of music. Although it's tempting to think that this means there's something missing from the music it does give Ross the space to fully stretch his melodic wings. Whether we're listening to the more understated offerings such as "Regression (Progression)", the slower "Nevermore" or the slightly funkier "Realm" then there's much to enjoy over this album's 8 tracks.
This album, like others of it's kind is available from mp3.com or, if you prefer the personal touch I'm sure Ross will be only too pleased to sell you a copy of your very own directly.
