crack between the nothing

seekness (1996)

it took me a while to get used to this seekness (seal phuric) disk after more intense "devious destiny". "the crack between the nothing" contains three tracks of laid-back controlled ambient atmospheres that are lighter and more fluid than the sounds on "devious destiny". slightly distorted loops and swirling bubbling atmospheric elements attract your attention for a moment when they break out of the quiet song atmosphere. an interesting twist is spoken word that accompanies "coagluking mixture", but unfortunately this seems to drive your attention away from the music.

however, the track that makes this cd definitely worth listening is nicely structured vocal mix of "altered states". string-based echoing sounds are the background for minimal percussion and samples, occasionally more monumental music elements are used, pushing percussion to the background. mysterious non-oppressing darkness, graceful simplicity and quality of the sound strangely remind me of torsion's work, especially the moments when the music erupts in short percussion climaxes. this epic (both 23+ minutes of the track and its atmosphere contribute to that) work is definitely a highlight here.

this is surreal and strangely addictive disk could be considered a classic among reload ambient material.
