contra technique

this short lp by daniel myer, the name familiar to anyone who has ever heard of haujobb, cleaner, architect. this is his solo project working in minimal drum&bass space. for those of you familiar with architect, this project would remind of the latter, and appears to be a predecessor of architect. at the same time "contra technique" is more "commercial"-sounding, or rather more "acceptable" music, not focusing so much on dazzling technicalities and composition of architect.

it can be described as refined, elegant, minimal drum&bass toying with elegant strings, echoing noises, occasional vocal samples. its atmosphere is what fully positions it aside from the whole commercial scene and places it in the realm where cleaner, architect and haujobb reside. it is melancholic, dark, incredibly elegant, melodic. it has the groove and energy, fueled by deep basslines and rapid intricate percussion escapades; it also possesses melancholy and beauty, mesmerizing with incredibly graceful transitions, gentle keys, cold echoing synthlines.

I was immediately enthralled, mesmerized by the energy of this record, presenting yet another side of this versatile musician. I would recommend this for anyone into darker, stylish, refined, at times almost minimal drum&bass, that still has the drive going back to the roots of this genre. as for me, I have instantly fallen under the spell of this record.
