overrated
a very different direction of electronic music that i had overlooked in the past years that had to be mentioned. a few years back i had heard the track "overact" on the "sonologie comp.1", but honestly never pursued this artist when I should have. a brilliant track that stands to be only one part of a very diversified release from musician jérôme soudan. one of many projects by this ranged musician/percussionists, "overrated" pushes new directions and meshes various genres of music together including orchestral, speed metal, electro, industrial, dark ambient, and experimental. emphasizing very dynamic percussion elements and strong orchestral arrangements. this eleven-track release provides the listener with a range of material that should appeal to just about any listener.
we open this release with the colossal orchestral movements, opera vocals and chants, deep analog bass elements, and ascending rhythmic melodies that entice the mind nicely with "overture." the second track breaks intro aggro-industrial guitar riffs and heavy beat structures. while "overload," track four, pushes post-apocalyptic themes that are contrasted by spoken word samples and male vocals.
track five changes paced dramatically with a very abysmal string intro that busts into a velocity of bio-synthetic rhythms, air choirs, metal riffs, and catchy electro melodic structures. one of my favorite tracks on this release that remains very solid. track seven, "overact", enticing, dynamic, beautiful, and catchy as hell, nothing more to be said, it’s just that good. track eight, "overrule," allures us with subtle russian samples meshed with bouncy and unmerciful tribal rhythms that break out and pace about. another favorite. and very impressive track to say the least.
something to definitely consider looking into if you have not already.
