kindertraum v.2.0

melotron (1999)
anton · October 13, 1999

this is new ep from melotron (limited to 1500 copies) that delivers even more harsh uncompromising brutal synth-pop that we all like so much. the disk contains the title track in its original version, club mix of the same track, cleen remix, and funker vogt mix of "die maske" together with a new track.

from the very first moment you start listening to the cd you cannot resist its charm. "kindertraum" is unbelievably catchy and danceable; the song is soft and the melody is simply irresistible.

"kindertraum" club mix is a more upbeat version that is stronger and has more edge to it.

funker vogt's version of "die maske" (and you can tell it is funker vogt, as always) is a faster and harder version of the track that is not all that sweet and simple. a bunch of metallic percussion and strange noises were added to the mix.

cleen remix of "kindertraum" is the most interesting on the disk. it starts out with the theme that is similar to "navigator" by forma tadre - monumental orchestration on the background overlaid with dancy beat. crazy samples and minimalistic percussion fill this first part of the song; then danceable beat kicks in after a short pause retaining the feeling of the original track. cleen made this part even more delicate and graceful compared to the original. gradually pushing the sound to the background, the track becomes more and more minimal.

"außer kraft" (a new track) presents an interesting mix of catchy danceable percussion and strings with carefully arranged distorted noisy beats. while not as catchy and danceable as the rest of the disk, it is rather interesting and has more experimental feeling (retaining trademark "light" melotron sound).

"kindertraum v2.0" is definitely the disk worth getting (even if you are not a synth-pop freak) - it guarantees you hours and hours of pure synth-pop sweetness.
