i have mixed feelings about this album, and I took my time listening to it. on one hand, the more universal sound of melotron (similar to direction taken by de/vision) seems to lack the tenderness present on "dein meister" or melodic dancy sound of "kindertraum". this new sound, however should stop never-ending accusations of similarity to and one and become the next step in band's evolution.
well, on to the actual tracks. "es brennt" is a clean nice ballad, very melodic with soft clean vocals, which is one of the main (and most recognizable) assets of melotron. "schlaflos" continues in the same vein; guitar passages seem to be the most obvious addition to the song. "tanz mit dem teufel" is one of the most addictive songs on this cd; melotron does what it's best known for, creating catchy simple track. "gesindel" deserves to be mentioned for the symphonic feeling it creates; multitude of string elements and epic opera-like female vocals gracefully flow into more percussion-oriented track. "du bist es nicht wert" is one of my favorites on this disk combining by far the darkest sound on this album with very catchy melodic elements.
it is very solid release, and it is hard to place the tracks that clearly stand out. there are no obvious hits like all-time best "2 young 2 die" and "kindertraum", but the whole album is nicely produced and possesses dense warm atmosphere.
