!comprendido!... time stop!
deutsch nepal that started out in 1991 is among the most famous cold meat signings (the band used to be released by staalplaat, old europa cafe, ant-zen and sound source). according to cmi site, this is the last full-length offering from the band on this label.
the music on this disk is a mix of heavy dark ambient, chaotic noises and heavy mechanized percussion. very atmospheric at times, it still has some rhythmic structure to it. the music is quite interesting and you never are quite sure whether it puts you to sleep and fills your head with cold-sweated nightmares ("world mirror") or crushes your skull with merciless noise and pounding beats ("pain is the language we use"). the ambience on the disk is achieved via slow, heavy, repetitive beats that capture you and won't let go; occasional distorted synthline adds even more chaos to the mix ("the phlegethon fish"). it is definitely one of those cmi classics that should not be missed.
my favorite tracks include "benevolence 92" - pulsating dark ambient with clean synths and epic atmosphere. it is filled with chaotic bits and pieces of cut-up symphonies and nightmares that fill your dreams at night. here they come as a cacophonic storm of sound that twists your brain and drowns your conscience. "gouge free market" is another strong song that consists of dark vibrating bassline, the samples that match the music amazingly well, and simple repetitive beats on the background - a great atmosphere-creating track.
