there were a lot of remix compilations lately, especially the double-disk ones. "re_laborat" is a rare two-disk edition (consisting of two parts - "re_animat" and "re_laborat") of this remix cd that originally appeared as a one-disk version.

i have to say i was quite impressed by the line-up of the bands that got together to pay the tribute to this legendary band. my favorite ones are eternal afflict's remix of "von der armut" (the song became a whacked techno-mutant), aghast view's version of "des satan's neue kleider" (stripped-down percussion-oriented complex ebm), "das ich im ich" remixed by... and one (!) (nice remix with detectable traces of synth-pop), vnv nation's version "destillat" is a great danceable club hit with recognizable vnv nation sound, in strict confidence is brilliant as usual with its precise and clean version of "der hass", "kein und abel" became more chaotic and noisy after being touched by kalte farben, softer and more melodic version of "he mensch" was delivered by deine lakaien, followed by intense version of "dem ich den traum" modified by l'ame imortelle (a mix of that intensity i would have expected from :w: that wasn't all that impressive with its version of "aura"), funker vogt delivered militant version of "unschuld erde".

imminent starvation's version of "dein leben" was rather disappointing - the track lost its orchestration and gained nothing more than repetitive scratching and crunching - nothing from the usual power and force of imminent starvation. "re_animat" also includes reverse edit of "von der armut" and der schrei taken from cd "stigma" and re-animat.

i would recommend this cd to anyone (even the ones that do not like das ich). rest assured - you will find something that will attract you - the range of the genres covered by the remixers is amazing and you will enjoy the tracks even if the original songs left you unmoved.
