d'arcangelo has been around for a while releasing material on rephlex and nature. this is the latest offering from the duo of fabrizio d'arcangelo and marco d'arcangelo.
"blind retina" is mix of soft keys, haywire of tangled sharp beats and very simple atmospheric lines backing this analog and at times almost videogame-sounding chaos. almost jovial motives with old jukebox melodies are mixed with bubbling arrays of piercing percussion assembled with mechanical precision. fountains of beats build up to a crescendo and then abruptly disappear trading places with mechanic synthline.
overall, this release has a distinct recognizable atmosphere, creating peculiar brand of idm, not relying on soft melodic lines like boards of canada and not overloading the listener with abrasiveness and complexity of autechre.
