although this release is not a leap forward and not an obvious improvement compared to previous material, i am constantly impressed with quality and productivity of this single-man project. i am glad to see that joe's efforts finally paid off as he has been signed to possessive blindfold recordings. hopefully scott will be able to provide creative direction and release a polished full-length some time soon.

as demonstrated on previous demos, joe shows an impressive range composing music that is ranging from heavy abrasive ambient to aggressive rhythm'n'noise. starting with "nucleus" that opens this 4-track 3" inch demo, we are presented with dark landscapes filled with slowly pulsing mechanized noises. "nervax" is rhythm'n'noise that appears to be quite reminiscent to some winterkalte material. next is "sledge" with slightly gabber-like motive and overly cluttered sound. "con-sequence v2" is last and quite possibly could have been left out or at least cleaned up. its mix of heavily distorted beats and funky percussion at times reminded me of proyecto mirage, but the latter is far more solid.

somehow with aural blapshemy releases joe seems to follow patterns when elements that could be heard on converter album are replaced by explosiveness of synapscape on the next track, followed by another one reminiscent of winterkalte. which, of course, is not a bad thing, but on the upcoming full length i would not mind seeing more original sound (and especially mixed with heavy harsh atmospheres that aural blasphemy is so good at). obviously the band has potential and creative energy which makes upcoming pbr release worth waiting for.
