this very rare twenty-two minute demo shows a very promising future for these dark ambient musicians known as ashrae fax. frozen and desolate soundscapes that entrap surrealistic sensibilities similar to the works of darker ultra milkmaids and starfish pool.
I first noticed these artists from the "deprogramming music" compilation from the sacred noise label. on this demo the idealism continues with a long transitional composition that works with illusory and mysterious guitar textures and frozen pad atmospheres. involuted strings descend and slip through transparent tunnels that engage an collide with foreboding dark patches from opposite directions. reminding me of somewhat of ultra milkmaid's ealry and darker pieces or even koen's darker starfish pool work. i cannot place it directly, but i can say these guys have a very promising future.
my only criticism would be that of the production and engineering quality of the demo itself, in which most demos are quite rough anyways. the bass and guitar strings become lost and muddy at times, but if these elements get boosted in final production, all will be good.
this is another band to watch out for and definitely one of the stronger and interesting bands I have heard from sacred noise.
