android lust (1998)
anton · September 2, 1999

shikhee returns after her brilliant debut with remixes of the tracks from "resolution" and several new songs. new tracks include "cherished agony" ("classic" android lust sound), "amnion", "eviscerated" (distorted solid noisy baets overlayed with synths), "where angels lie". they follow the same lines of dark synthetic melodies and creepy vocals with addition of some noisy elements here and there; the songs are mesmerizing. i remember the time when i heard "suffer the flesh", got captured by its twisted beauty after the first seconds into the track, and had to listen to it again and again.

the most outstanding remixes were done by i, parasite (densier and noisier version of "refuse"), occultechnologies create an extremely danceable mix of "suffer the flesh" (retaining its edge and force) that inevitably will become a club hit, gridlock takes "cherished agony" as the basis for its usual brilliant exploration and experimentation.

you should enjoy this album if you liked "resolution" (plus gridlock and i, parasite alone will make this cd worth buying). plus the video of "refuse" included with the cd is worth watching (shikhee is simply amazing on stage).
