kaleinoiscope
I have been immediately captured by this work from diverse personalities of musicians behind metarc. from the very first moments, I have recognized this album as a superior work coming from the ones intimately familiar with sound and music.
it is hard to describe the genre of this album; all the tracks work together as a whole, creating an incredibly rich, dense sonic atmosphere that is left up to the listener to interpret.
the music throughout the whole album moves between many themes remaining in the realm of dark layered digital ambient. besides a vast musical library, a wealth of samples, noises, loops, bizarre sounds; besides all this technical mastery, the album offers a unique, phantasmagoric, surreal landscape that any listener would be delighted to explore on his own again and again.
you are immersed into the information ocean, washed by the waves of captured transmissions, dreams, fading memories that often seem to come not only from humans. the music becomes completely subjective, incredibly visual; its very richness is what provokes thoughts and dreams, interpretations. those interpretations depend on the versatility of the listener, referencing layers and layers of cultural heritage, evoking emotions, sparkling countless allusions and associations. this incredible stream of consciousness, a dialog between the music and the listener takes this album beyond a simple notion of creating music, it becomes more ambitious, both a catalyst and a source of material for intense brain activity.
this empowerment of the listener, the shifting of balance and amount of involvement to the audience is what makes this album so exciting and so challenging to listen to. you, as a listener, have to be alert, listening at all times; you are swamped with images, this rich living mass that at times dazzles you with the coolest sounds, and at times you lose yourself completely in thought and reflection supported by bare traces of sound.
the music is open to so many interpretations. both digital and analog, moody and dry, mechanized. it is always emotional – beautiful, creepy, weird. it can be aggressively minimal, or introspectively quiet, it can frighten with layered sensory overload and grating textures, or numb with monotone mechanized waves. the unifying themes are instability, complete subjectivity, randomness. and yet the atmosphere is strangely solid, mesmerizing.
“kaleinoiscope” will drive the person with imagination into the state of permanent bliss and leave the casual listener untouched. some might call it sound for the sake of sound and fail to see the profound significance of this album. this is the music that tends to change with every listen, depending what state your are in. it perfectly shapes itself to fit the image the listener is seeking for, and at the same time pushes further, suggesting and morphing reality.
