this relatively short (unfortunately) release on german city center offices (the label that brought us such wonderful melodic/minimal idm goodies as christian kleine, hermann & kleine, arovane, and zorn, among others) is a great example of excellent melodic idm very similar to the acts mentioned above. the music is soft and gentle with deep melodies and warm clean textures. rich smooth melodies are full of analog elements, simple and polished key sequences with perfect rhythms and percussion without any distortion. wonderfully orchestrated, they create very uplifting, very harmonized atmosphere without excessive "happiness" or usual idm "mechanized" edge. I really have not heard anything about ulrich schnauss before, city centre offices once again gets to discover new talent in the genre. if the names like christian kleine or even earlier boards of canada make your heart beat faster, this is something you should definitely check out.
